Welcome. I’m
June, currently an Onboard Marketing Manager at sea. I first went away to sea when I was
22, starting on the Disney Dream with Disney Cruise Lines. I stayed for two
years, and then moved over to Carnival UK, sailing on m.v. Ventura, Azura, and
Aurora, before briefly moving to Carnival UK Headquarters, and then quickly
returning to sea with Holland America Line. In the past year I’ve worked on
m.s. Oosterdam, Noordam, and Westerdam, and have now been sailing for just over
seven years.
Before
I started working at sea, I had no idea it was even a possibility, and I made
myself a great, and unexpected, career. More than that, I’ve visited over four
continents, over 30 countries, and more ports than I can recall, but most
importantly, I’ve made friendships to last a lifetime, and grown in ways that I
would not have without this experience.
The
cruise industry has become rather prominent on the global scene given the
current situation with Covid-19, but just like many other cruise lines have
already promised, we will be back. To
that end, this website celebrates the many incredible parts of cruising and
being a seafarer. While we are currently experiencing an unprecedented
situation with many cruise lines suspending operations, we all still are
holding onto the hope of rejoining our on board families soon and returning
back to jobs we love.
We
have seen in the past decade that the cruise industry has grown at a rapid rate
with new cruise lines entering the market, and the biggest ships in history
being built and while we will emerge from this pandemic as a changed industry,
we will come back. When Carnival Cruise Lines announced their intention to
resume sailing in August 2020, bookings
increased 200% year on year. I have high hopes that we will be able to resume
at that time marker, but when it is safe, and have no doubts that no matter if
this date is pushed, we will come back.
To
share the knowledge of cruising, and my knowledge of this unique environment of
being a seafarer, this website was born. I look forward to sharing my knowledge
and experience with you, along with my book to be released in the next few
months.
